He was also at the Kellogg of Management’s Executive Development Program in 2002, Harvard University Kennedy Schools Senior Management Program in 2001, University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business program on managing critical resources in 2002, Cambridge Academy of Transport Shipping Insurance Course in 2002, Kellogg Graduate School of Management Certificate in the Soul of Leadership Program in 2003.
He Joined the Sokoto State Service in September 1986 where he rose to the Position of State Director of Industry in 1991. He worked in various positions in both the state and the Federal Government Since then. He was appointed Executive Director at the National Maritime Authority of Nigeria (now NIMASA) in September 1999. He was later appointed Minister of Transport in 2007 and Chairman National Sports Commission thereafter.
He is highly versed in business development, process management and energy sector commercial experience (Oil & Gas, and power). Lanre Runsewe created Rungas Limited in 2009 as an LPG Cylinder importation company and he has grown the business into a dynamic and integrated Gas trading and Infrastructure company.
In 1999, he was appointed an Ambassador and accredited as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia. While in Namibia, he became the Dean of the African Group of Ambassadors, the Dean of Commonwealth Heads of Mission and the Deputy Dean of the Diplomatic Corp.
In 2005, he was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Nigerian Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) and he served the nation in that role for 14 years until his tenure came to an end in July 2020. While serving as a member of the Board of NLNG, he was appointed Chairman of the Board Establishment Committee (BEC) of the Company for purposes of appointments, promotions and discipline.
He is currently the president of Sublime Energy and a member of the board of Mainstream Energy. He served as a Director/ General Manager of a multi- million dollar company SANBELL Group of Companies, a company with interests in manufacturing, agriculture, real estate, import and export and education.
He was also a Director / Chief Operating Office of Defcom Technologies Ltd, Energy Solutions Ltd, Sani Bello Foundation, Dornier Aviation Nigeria AIEP, Unifone Telecommunications Ltd And Allstream Energy Solution Ltd. He has an MSC in Communications Management (MCM – Buckingham University, UK) Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Information Technology & Business Administration (American Intercontinental University in London, UK)
